Federal employees would see a 4.1% pay raise in 2027
Federal employees would see their pay increase by a total of 4.1% starting in 2027. This includes a 3.1% raise in basic pay and an extra 1% for locality pay, affecting millions of government workers nationwide.
Today, federal employee pay adjustments are made annually following existing rules, which include wage surveys for some workers. If this bill becomes law, for 2027, most federal employees would get a mandated 3.1% raise in basic pay and an additional 1% in locality pay. Prevailing rate employees would also see a 3.1% basic pay increase, specifically overriding the usual wage survey requirements for that year.
