This bill, called the American Family Housing Act, would stop very large investment companies from buying single family homes. It would prevent firms with over $100 billion in assets from purchasing these properties directly or taking big ownership stakes in companies that own many homes. These changes would take effect about 100 days after the bill becomes law.
