This bill would make it easier for students in aviation training programs to get federal financial aid. It would allow colleges to include flight training, licensing, and certification fees in a student's total cost of attendance. This means students could potentially receive more aid to cover these expensive parts of becoming a pilot or other aviation professional, starting in the 2027-2028 school year for cost of attendance changes, and immediately for professional student status.
