What Would Change

Today, drug traffickers mass-produce and falsely market counterfeit pills containing fentanyl, leading to a dramatic rise in overdose deaths, with over 84,000 drug-induced deaths in the 12-month period ending October 2024. Awareness of fentanyl in counterfeit pills is low, with only 65 percent of youth and 55 percent of teens aware in 2024. If this resolution becomes law, the Senate would formally designate April 29, 2025, as "National Fentanyl Awareness Day," aiming to boost public awareness, especially for families and young people, about the dangers of these counterfeit drugs.
