Next Generation 9–1–1 Act

Key Provisions

• Authorizes federal funding for states and tribes to upgrade and maintain Next Generation 9-1-1 systems from budget years 2026 through 2030.
• Creates a nationwide Next Generation 9-1-1 Cybersecurity Center to share threat information and guidelines.
• Establishes a Public Safety Next Generation 9-1-1 Advisory Board with 16 public safety experts to guide system deployment.
• Requires states and tribes to certify proper use of 9-1-1 fees and create long-term funding for new systems to receive grants.
• Caps administrative costs for grants at 1% for states and 2% for tribes, and training costs at 3% for states and 5% for tribes, of the total grant award.
• Blocks grant funds from going to the First Responder Network Authority or entities with national security prohibitions.
