• Allows approved evidence-based, community-based lifestyle counseling programs to provide Medicare-covered obesity therapy.
• Adds drugs for obesity treatment and weight loss management to Medicare Part D coverage for eligible individuals.
• Requires therapy from new providers or programs to have a referral from a doctor and coordination with them.
• Requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services to report to Congress one year after the bill becomes law, and then every two years after that, on how the law is being carried out and how to better coordinate efforts.
